Kingsley is a real treasure! As many have said: I always feel like I'm visiting an old friend when I stop by his shop. I adore his passion, knowledge, and his stories! He's always patient, happy to answer questions, and never ever pressures anyone to buy anything. It actually feels like you're visiting a collector's den or small museum where most things just happen to be for sale.
I've learned a lot about textiles, woven blankets, and handmade quilts from Kingsley and am thankful for the time he took to get his newly acquired "baby" out of the back to show me. We both have a fascination with learning how things are made and we're dazzled by the work on this one.
Speaking of "how things are made": he knows a guy named Cort that fixes and cleans old pocket and wrist watches. I bought an antique pocket watch from him a few years ago at a great price and it keeps time perfectly. I had also requested/mentioned I was looking for a specific vintage watch and he found one! Once again: great price.
There have been slight issues with watch repair only because of the pandemic making many parts hard to find. I heard that the main source to get things may be or has already closed for good.
It's rare to find people and items like the ones you'll find in this shop. Stop by and you'll find something interesting and beautiful, and most likely learn something new!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angelyne T.San Francisco, CA3391Aug 23, 2020
This place is so amazing! So many well curated treasures and the owner is a gem. Even after I purchased some trinkets, he chatted with my husband and I for a few minutes. So personable and knew everything about every piece in his store. Can't wait till I'm back in the neighborhood to pop in again!

Kingley is great. He is very knowledgeable about different types of antiques, including periods and regions of origination. He is passionate and practices his craft as a labor of love.
He has a fondness for Oriental dressers, drawers, and medicine cabinets.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pete V.Oakland, CA10102Dec 12, 2020

This shop has so many beautiful antiques, but the real treasure is the owner, Kingsley. My husband and I stumbled in here last weekend (Jan 2021). I fell in love with so many pieces, that were unfortunately vastly out of my price range. Even though Kingsley knew we couldn't afford these items, he still took the time to passionately explain their history and answer any questions we had. I thought perhaps I was bothering him by asking about things I wasn't going to buy, but he clearly loves his craft and talking to people. I felt like I was chatting with an old friend. I ended up buying a gorgeous copper antique Navajo bracelet, 3 labradorite eggs, and a small crystal donut (some type of jasper I think). My husband and I are already planning on going back this weekend so we can bring Kingsley donuts and chat with him about all kinds of things.

I happen to love this place. I enjoy talking to Kingsley and I have learned a lot from him about antiques and especially a series of limited edition linoleum block flower prints I purchased from him over a period of time. I got an amazing antique Navajo bracelet at a great price from him some years ago that I still get compliments on all the time. I've also had him do restoration work on some antiques of mine and he has done beautiful work at very reasonable prices.
I highly recommend Talisman Antiques.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - joanna b.Oakland, CA05Jul 2, 2017
I bought a magnificent tansu here...and it still glows at me every day. This is the place to come for reasonably priced unique textiles, rugs, and tansus. Kinglsey is the bomb! Lovely to chat with him -- he's given me a lot of help over the years in how to handle old irreplaceable textiles.
Forgot to mention the jewelry which also shows his excellent taste.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Martha. G.Oakland, CA0122Nov 19, 2017
I was in the Rockridge neighborhood , and came across this lovely antique store! The owner, I found out later, can be seen outside, tinkering away on some type of interesting piece, and look up to greet you. He is kind and very knowledgeable about all the quality pieces in his store.
I am always impressed with how well he describes an item of interest. If I have a question about something I'm trying to locate, he will take the time to give an answer and helpful advice. He will also head you in the direction to find it!
I had brought in a antique watch that needed some repairs. and I was able to drop it off and get it fixed by a person who repairs watches!
He did a beautiful job and went above and beyond what I had in mind what repairs it needed.
The price of the repairs were low and he did a great job. Thank you to everone there for such an impressive shop, and I look forward to going again and seeing a new selection of antique treasures.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sherry W.San Francisco, CA7811Apr 6, 2016
Stopped in to look inside and ended up staying to listen to the owner talk about antiques and wood working. What an amazing person and shop. The prices were all good deals and incredible value for the quality. A lot more affordable than I would have guessed. You could tell this was an honest person who cares about craftsmanship and his customers. A real gem of a store with top notch beautiful antiques. Most of the furniture and decorative items were well crafted Eastern and American work with a folk art slant leaning towards natural clean lines that lets the beauty of the wood shine through. Each piece has been carefully restored by hand. There were also high quality tapestries and blankets. I learned a lot.
