The event features live music, wonderful specialty food trucks, enticing raffle items and a pop-up store with unique garden items.

The Plant Exchange is a community event that encourages reuse, recycling, organic living, resource sharing, and information exchange. The event draws neighbors, gardeners, landscapers, urban farmers, and outdoor fans from all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

To participate, gardening fans must bring plants to exchange, or garden items, such as pots, decorative items, tools, equipment, books on gardening, stepping-stones, and anything useful in a yard including BBQ pits. All types of plants are welcome, from cuttings to full size.

The all-volunteer run Plant Exchange celebrates abundance, generosity and community spirit. It attracts hundreds of plant lovers each season. This event also features free advice tables staffed by Alameda County Master Gardeners and services donated by local businesses.

“This event really has something for every age and stage,” said Odette Polar, The Plant Exchange Founder. “Whether you want help establishing a new garden, enhancing and diversifying an existing collection, or have a question for one of our experts on sustainable landscaping and irrigation management, you can find it here.”

With over 2500 plants exchanging hands guests are encouraged to use the holding area so they need not carry their items. Volunteers will also be available to help load and unload vehicles.
